Nicole Kidman was taken to hospital after the Jaguar she was in crashed during filming of the science fiction thriller The Invasion in downtown Los Angeles, US police said.
Footage of the accident has been posted on the entertainment website TMZ.com.
It shows Kidman's stunt car, which is attached to the back of a truck, slamming into a street pole at 300 West Sixth Street after the truck fails to negotiate a tight right-hand turn at speed.
Several stunt crew can also been seen clinging to the roof of the vehicle at the moment of impact.
The sounds of tyres screeching, glass shattering and metal crunching can be heard as sparks shoot off the street pole. Onlookers run towards the crashed vehicles to check on those inside.
